Speaker at ICT and the Circular Economy
Karsten Schischke is Group Manager Product Ecodesign and Circular Materials at Fraunhofer IZM. He is with TU Berlin and Fraunhofer IZM as a researcher since 2000. Karsten was involved in the Ecodesign preparatory studies on external power supplies, battery chargers, televisions, complex set-top boxes and machine tools for the European Commission to prepare related eco-design legislation. Recently, he lead the product study on mobile phones, smartphones and tablets. He coordinated several large EU FP7 and Horizon 2020 projects, including LCA to go, which developed screening LCA tools and provided mentoring, closeWEEE, one of the first Horizon 2020 projects on circular economy, and sustainablySMART, addressing the product life cycle of smart mobile devices. Karsten is frequently reviewing Life Cycle Assessment studies.
