About the eFutures Network+

The eFutures Network+ exists to spark, support, and nurture multidisciplinary innovation in UK electronic systems R&D.

We aim to enrich the sector and progress sustainable high quality technologies that will benefit peoples’ lives.

Semiconductors

eFutures leads major horizon scan study in support of the UK’s forthcoming semiconductor strategy

What is an EPSRC Network+?

EPSRC-funded networks are designed to “create new interdisciplinary research communities and topics, by developing interaction between the research community and appropriate science, technology and industrial groups.”

What are electronic systems?

Electronic systems are combinations of parts – powered by electricity – that have been brought together to perform a specific function.

They are central to modern life, controlling aircraft, running traffic lights, powering washing machines, enabling ATMs, and underpinning all our mobile phones and computers

Ways we work towards our aims:

The eFutures Network+ exists to spark and support multidisciplinary innovation in electronic systems.

We aim to enrich the sector and progress sustainable, high-quality technologies to benefit people’s lives.

Community and capacity building

Communicating opportunities to our members and holding regular events.

Commissioning Reports

Contributing knowledge to the sector, via specialist reports; such as our 2021 Neuromorphic Computing report, which led to a 2024 £5.6million EPSRC call.

Supporting Researchers

Providing bespoke programmes to benefit electronic systems researchers; such as seed funding, and our Women’s Pilot.

Undertaking Research

Conducting expert research assessments, such as our Future of Semiconductor R&D project.

Informing Policy

Reviewing how electronic systems R&D can best inform research, technological, or industrial policies.

We also focus on improving the translation of R&D into industry. We collaborate with industry and with international partners to hold knowledge exchange and showcasing events.

Finding Solutions

Using our strategic foresight expertise, we scope multidisciplinary, ambitious strategies to better prepare for the grand challenges of tomorrow.
