Women’s Writing Retreat 2026

Building strong professional networks and creating opportunities for new connections are central to the eFutures Women’s Pilot. Our latest Writing Retreat was hosted in Portugal and brought together a cohort of women researchers, providing an opportunity to connect, share experiences and develop relationships with others working across the electronics research community.

Throughout the retreat, participants were encouraged to step outside of their existing networks, exchange ideas and explore opportunities for future collaboration. Bringing researchers together in this environment allowed new connections to form naturally, while strengthening a wider community of women across the sector.

Alongside this focus on networking and collaboration, the retreat provided valuable dedicated writing time, giving participants the space to concentrate on developing research proposals away from the competing demands of their day-to-day roles. Group discussions and peer input also created opportunities to share expertise, gain new perspectives and support one another as proposals progressed.

Through initiatives like the Writing Retreat, the Women’s Pilot aims to help women expand their professional networks, establish meaningful research connections and access the focused time and support needed to pursue future funding opportunities.
